When people romanticize OCD and try to make it look like a quirky personality trait…
I am diagnosed with OCD. I used to (and sometimes still do) rip my hair out, including my eyelashes, head hair, and eyebrows. Intrusive thoughts are also scary as heck. I could go on about a long list of personal symptoms but I think you get the point.
NO SUSAN. YOU DON’T HAVE OCD BECAUSE ALL THE CHAIRS AROUND THE DESK NEED TO BE STRAIGHT. It’s not adorable when you giggle, “hehe I’m just so OCD!”
Stop it. It’s not some cute manic pixie personality trait. OCD isn’t quirky and it’s not a charming attribute. It’s debilitating and controls people’s entire lives.
