Historic Irish general elections - 6. September 1927

Following the failure of the Labour-National League-FF attempt to form a government mentioned yesterday, Cosgrave promptly dissolved the Dáil. The net result saw a strengthening of Cumann na nGaedheal and Fianna Fáil, with the smaller parties punished accordingly, and Labour leader Tom Johnson lost his own Dublin County seat.

Cumann na nGaedheal 453,028 (38.6%) 62/153 seats (+15)

Fianna Fáil 411,777 (35.2%) 57 seats (+13)

Labour 106,183 (9.1%) 13 seats (-9)

Independents 92,959 (7.8%) 12 seats (-4)

Farmers' Party 74,626 (6.4%) 6 seats (-5)

National League 18,990 (1.6%) 2 seats (-6)

Irish Workers' League (Jim Larkin) 12,473 (1.1%) 1 seat (+1)
