On counterfeit books
Against ba kayo sa pagbili ng counterfeit na libro o ok lang kasi "culture shouldn't exist only for those who can afford it". Nakakapinsala ba talaga sya sa author kung mga "new york best seller" lang madalas na pinipirata?
Edit: thank you for your insights everyone. While I'm still torn between buying pirated books (for practicality purposes because I'm still a student haha) and buying authentic ones where I may read it only once (or hindi kasi mas maiintindihan mo lang ang libro pag ni reread mo) ; your insights provided other perspectives I often overlook. In the past authentic na libro binibili ko (from nbs or fully booked) but I often get reprimanded because of it since 300 na ang pinaka murang og book nowadays. Ngayon mechanical pencil at bookmarks nalang nabibili ko from these stores haha 😭. Well, I guess reading is something only the privileged can( legally) enjoy nowadays .And public libraries is one of solution to prevent other people from consuming pirated books/ebooks. And if wala talagang choice, mag pirate nalang sa website then give something back to the author (review sa goodreads, recommend sa iba etc etc).
I always thought that "culture shouldn't exist only for those who can afford it". Ultrakill dev ang nag sabi nito regarding sa nag pi-pirate ng game nya. Ok lang daw since nag pirate din sya dati ng other medias and it led him to develop ultrakill. But he also said that if you have the capacity to support financially, then you have the responsibility to do it. However, different story nga kung bumibili ng counterfeit books since may ibang kumikita.
Tldr; buying counterfeit books: bad Pirating ebooks: good if you give something back to the author
Again, thank you everyone :-))
