Does hunger of hadar ever stop becoming a good spell and, if so, when?

I'm making a warlock and I've heard a lot of people telling me to throw in hunger of hadar, but, the way I see it, the non-scaling damage might not work at higher levels, but I just want to know at what point it'll stop being worth it, since I've never really gone to high levels before (I'm sorta new)
